Chapter 3: The Accommodation Pods

As Northern Tasmania looks to grow nature-led wellness experiences, this project is an opportunity to show what can emerge when the experience is understood first, and design grows from there.

310 Vineyard: Chapter 3 | Accommodation Pods

On this site just outside Beaconsfield, in the West Tamar Valley, visitors will be encouraged to pause and immerse themselves in experiences of rejuvenation, regeneration and simple pleasures, guided by wellness, agritourism, quality Tasmanian produce, art and culture.

Revegetation will provide habitat and heal fragmented areas enabling wildlife and the vineyard to co-exist. Paths are meandering leading to discovery and reflection, inviting visitors to slow down and notice what is already here.

The built form becomes softer and more fluid as the visitor moves deeper into the site, fostering a quieter and more introspective experience as one approaches the lake, with its therapeutic and healing qualities. The outdoor elements infiltrate, blurring the edges between the indoor and outdoor experience.

Our approach begins with listening to the place and invites visitors to carry a thought with them when they leave. The retreat, vineyard, the architecture and the landscape are being shaped as parts of that one unfolding story.

As Northern Tasmania looks to grow nature-led wellness experiences, this project is an opportunity to show what can emerge when the experience is understood first, and design grows from there.

The recent announcement of a landmark Wellness Precinct EOI for Crown land in Northern Tasmania confirms what we’ve believed for some time: this region has what wellness travellers are looking for. We’re already doing this work in the Tamar Valley, listening to place before drawing a line. If you’re building a team to respond to the EOI, we’d welcome the conversation.

Stay tuned for more updates.
